Eating Healthy.....
I eat healthy so that I can be healthy. For example, I drink milk with my dinner so that I can have strong bones and grow more. I also eat plenty of fruits and vegetables because they provide me with nutrients I need to be healthy, like iron. I need carbohydrates to stay healthy so I have plenty of grains, but I also don't want to have too many carbs. It's all in moderation. Finally, for meat and beans, since I don't really like a lot of meat I have to make sure I get enough protein through the bean part of this group. In a normal day I probably have grains in the form of waffles for breakfast with fruit in the form of juice. For lunch, I usally have meat in the form of a chicken sandwich which also includes grain. I'll also have fruit in the form of strawberries or something. For dinner, I'll usually have some kind of carb with a salad so I get my vegetables.
.....And Not So Healthy
Every once in a while you have to have some junk food, right? My sisters absolutely love marshmallow Peeps, but they didn't know what was in them! First, the second ingredient listed was gelatin. Did you know gelatin is derived from the collagen inside animals' skin and bones? Then, to add more shine to the Peeps they use carnauba wax, a substance also found in car waxes, shoe polishes and floor and furniture polishes and waxes. I would never want to put shoe polish in my mouth! Would you? To color the peeps they use a Yellow #5, or tartrazine, a substance that the Food Standards Agency is trying to phase out because of how it causes a lot of allergic reactions and have been linked to increased hyperactivity in children. Peeps may taste good, but the deeper truth about them is not so pretty.
